PRECINCT CAUCUSES

We are currently planning the April 15th Precinct Caucuses. Registered voters must be willing to sign in as Democrats, and must attend the caucus for the precinct in which they live. The Precinct Caucuses are like neighborhood meetings, and are the first step in the endorsement process for President. Delegates to the County Convention and the Legislative District Convention are chosen at the Precinct Caucuses. The 29 Klickitat County precincts will be divided between two caucus locations in Goldendale and White Salmon. The precinct caucuses will begin at 1 pm.

Caucuses for Alderdale, Alder Creek, Centerville, Columbus, East Klickitat, Goldendale 1, 2 and 3, Klickitat, Orchard Heights, Pine Forest, River, Roosevelt, Wishram, and Woodland precincts will be held at:

Goldendale Middle School Cafetorium, 520 Collins Drive, Goldendale

Caucuses for Appleton, Bingen, East Lyle, Fruit Valley, Glenwood, High Prairie, Husum, Lyle, Mountain Brook, North Dalles, North Fruit Valley, North White Salmon, Trout Lake, and White Salmon precincts will be held at:

Columbia High School Library,  1455 NW Bruin Country Road, White Salmon

LD SubCaucus and COUNTY CONVENTION

This year, our County Convention will be held on Sunday April 28th at the Lyle Activity Center (the Old Lyle Elementary) at 1 pm. County Conventions are where Democrats discuss local issues and candidates, adopt a county platform, and pass resolutions, which are submitted to the Platform Committee of the state convention.

The LD Caucuses will generally be held across the state on Saturday April 28th, with County Conventions on Sunday the 29th. Our LD 14 encompasses Yakima, Klickitat, Skamania and a small eastern part of Clark Counties, so each county will elect their proportion of the assigned delegates at subcaucuses in conjunction with their County Conventions. The delegates elected at the precinct caucuses will elect the LD delegates, who will go on to the CD Caucus in May, and to the State Convention. The LD SubCaucus will be held immediately preceding the County Convention, at 12 noon. ONLY delegates to the County Convention can vote at this portion of the meeting.
